History

The beginning

Abdellatif, Founder, designer & interior architect

The beginning

In 2003, Abdellatif Tots, the elder of the two Tots brothers, after studying finance, realized that his passion for interior design drove him more than anything else.

At the end of these studies, he immediately went into business, having been immersed in decoration since his youth, thanks to his artisan grandparents in Morocco.

They owned a small zellige and craft workshop. Zellige is world-renowned for its colors and unique characteristics. Throughout his childhood, Abdellatif was immersed in the textures of materials and ancestral techniques, which became the starting point for the Tots adventure.

He inherited a natural know-how passed down from generation to generation and a keen sense for decoration, design and spaces.

The real adventure began in 2003. They decided to bring back small quantities of tiles and decorative items for friends. And that's how it all started with the opening of a decoration shop which was at the time one of the most beautiful decoration shops in Boulogne-sur-Mer (lamps, furniture, decor) and, in parallel, a significant service for zellige tables, fountains, and 10 cm zellige tiles.

At the time, born to working-class parents, this adventure began with limited resources in a 9 m² space, but one full of charm. After a few years, sales increased, and little by little, sales to professionals specializing in bathrooms represented an increasingly significant market share.

They create custom-made hammams and spas, and especially bathrooms, the latter of which will be a real success.

In 2008, his younger brother, Mohamed Tots , joined the business after training in design. Demand for bathrooms skyrocketed, and the brothers decided to focus exclusively on this niche. It's a highly technical field requiring specialized training, which the brothers acquired over the years.

The expansion

Following the demand and need for storage in 2008 and the launch of their online store, their first warehouse opened as a clearance outlet! The Tots brothers offered their customers inexpensive products through a pop-up store format, open for just a few days, which proved a resounding success. With such high demand and explosive potential, the brothers decided to seek partnerships with major Italian tile brands. Simultaneously, customers requested new products, leading them to launch furniture and faucet collections. People from all over France contacted the brothers to order their products. They started with ads on Leboncoin (a French classifieds website), which worked so well that they decided to launch their online store in 2008. They initially delivered nationwide, but realized there was a significant demand for bathroom fixtures. The website www.tots.fr was born.

This is how the TOTS product line gradually came to be, starting with shower enclosures, washbasins, bathroom furniture, and now bathtubs. The TOTS product line currently covers 95% of the range.

Following this, in 2012 they opened their first 600m² Tots showroom in Boulogne-sur-Mer, featuring beautiful Italian tile brands, including some of the most prestigious ones with whom we still work today. That same year, they made a strategic shift to ensure their success. They each obtained certifications such as interior design and spatial design. Abdellatif, for his part, earned other technical certifications in the sanitary ware sector and combined these two areas of expertise to create his own product line.

95 % of our products are designed and manufactured by our own designers.
